Hello brothers and sisters,
This Sunday we will be celebrating the canonization of Mother Theresa of Calcutta, a patron saint of the pro-life movement. In an address she made here in Washington DC in 1994, she said:
"The greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion."
Twenty two years later, what this great saint is saying still rings true. In fact, peace in the family, in the home, in our cities, in the world has become more elusive; violence has escalated even more because abortion continues. As CFCFFL, we have been given an opportunity again to stand up against this violence, to pray for love and peace and for the end of abortion through our participation in this Fall's 40 Days for Life. As you all know, through prayers and persevering efforts of pro-lifers in Illinois - CFCFFL IL included (we have been part of the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil for 10 straight years), we have successfully closed the Albany Family Planning Clinic at Elston last year.
This Fall, the 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil in Chicago will be:
Place: In front of Family Planning Associates Abortion Clinic
659 West Washington Boulevard, Chicago
Time: 6:00am to 6:00pm (no longer 24 hours due to safety reasons)
Dates assigned to CFCFFL: Saturday, October 1, 2016 (for couples & YFL - Chicago Chapter) and
Saturday, October 22, 2016 (for HFL/SFL - Chicago Chapter)
Attached is a flyer, instructions and a link for the parking/transportation in that area.
May I enjoin our Chapter/Unit/and Household servants to please encourage every member to participate in this grace filled opportunity to express and/or manifest our very own Pro-Life charism in CFCFFL.
Kindly also include the opening (Wednesday, Sept 28) and Closing (Sunday, Nov 6) ceremonies at 7:00pm at the Kananaya Center, 5110 N. Elston, Chicago. Our Music Ministry has been requested to serve. Likewise, we also have been invited to a special thanksgiving celebration on Tuesday, Oct 18 - the First Anniversary of the Closing of the Albany Family Planning Clinic.
For convenience and easier access for our brethren in the suburbs, a venue located also in the Western Suburbs will be chosen for the 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil. Our IL Pro-Life Coordinator, Celso Alikpala will be sending out the details shortly.
As always, I am confident that CFCFFL IL will embrace this call and welcome the sacrifice that come with it with joy.
